Helena Township Planning Commission Meeting Minutes

Call to Order
Chair Mike Robinson called the meeting to order at 5:04 PM.

All in attendance participated.
Roll Call
Present: S. Moglovkin, F. VandenBerg, J. Bassil, J. Gurr, M. Robinson, G. Schafer, J. Schilling
Absent: None
Township Officials Present
Butch Peeples, Bob Logee
Approval of Agenda
J. Gurr motioned to approve the agenda, seconded by J. Bassil.
Motion approved.
Statement of Conflict of Interest
No conflicts.
Approval of February 6, 2025 Minutes
J. Gurr motioned to approve the minutes, seconded by S. Moglovkin.
Motion approved.
Communications
- There is positive and ongoing activity with the Helena Township attorney.
- The Antrim County Planning Commission did not meet; no updates were available regarding FEMA maps and flood plain requirements. J. Gurr will follow up with Leslie Meyers.
Public Comments
- L. Wilcox inquired about a short-term rental (STR) statement from the attorney. This will be added as an agenda item for the April 3, 2025 meeting.
- P. Sak inquired about language differences between two documents. This has been clarified to avoid confusion.
New Business
- Zoning Administrator Report: The February 2025 report was presented with no questions.
- J. Gurr was nominated as Vice Chair by G. Schafer, seconded by F. VandenBerg, and unanimously approved.
- It was decided that Ordinances 5.02.01 and 5.02.02 will be addressed separately. Ordinance 5.02.02 is complete. J. Gurr motioned to support Ordinance 5.02.02, seconded by J. Schilling.
All voted affirmative. - Ordinance 5.02.01 will be presented at the April 3, 2025 meeting. S. Moglovkin motioned, seconded by M. Robinson.
All voted affirmative. - New definitions require attorney review and approval before being presented to the Helena Township Board and added to official ordinance records.
