Helena Township Planning Commission Meeting Minutes

Call to Order
Chair Jim Gurr called the meeting to order at 5:00 PM.

All in attendance participated.
Roll Call
Present: F. VandenBerg, J. Gurr, D. Hunstad, M. Robinson, J. Schilling, D. Whipple
Absent: G. Schafer
Township Officials Present
Bob Logee
Approval of Agenda
M. Robinson motioned to approve the agenda, seconded by D. Whipple.
Motion approved.
Conflict of Interest
No conflicts.
Approval of August 7, 2025 Minutes
D. Hunstad motioned to approve the amended minutes, seconded by M. Robinson.
Motion approved.
Communications
- Mr. Albert Cash sent the HTPC a letter. D. Whipple read the letter, which will be filed with the meeting minutes.
- Mr. Edward Malaski sent an email to B. Logee which was read and will be filed with the meeting minutes.
Public Comments
- G. Mayes indicated there may be a perception that the HTPC is conducting closed meetings when members stay behind and do not exit the building (this is not the case).
- L. Wilcox inquired about holding the public hearing on a scheduled meeting date. The Helena Township Planning Commission is required to meet four (4) times per year, and the public hearing scheduled on October 2 will not impact this requirement.
New Business
- Bob Logee, Zoning Administrator, shared the August 2025 zoning activity report.
- October 2 is scheduled for a public hearing on Zoning Ordinance Chapter 5, Section 5.02.01 – Private Waterfront Access.
