Ballot Proposals — Official Language
Antrim County Proposal: 9-1-1 Millage Renewal Proposition
This proposal is a renewal of the previously approved millage and will permit the County to continue to levy up to 0.50 mill ($0.50 cents per $1,000.00 of taxable valuation) to provide funds for the continued operations of the comprehensive countywide 9-1-1 Emergency Telephone and Central Dispatch System.
This proposal being a renewal, shall the previous voted increase in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution on the amount of ad valorem taxes which may be levied by Antrim County, against all taxable property in the County, reduced to 0.4833 mills ($.4833 per $1,000 of taxable value) by the required millage rollbacks, be renewed and restored to the original authorized rate of 0.50 mills ($0.50 per $1,000 of taxable value) for a period of four (4) years, 2027 through 2030 inclusive, to provide continued operation funding of the comprehensive countywide 9-1-1 Emergency Telephone and Central Dispatch System? If approved and levied in its entirety, this millage would raise an estimated $1,400,519 for the County in 2027.
By law, the Downtown Development Authority/Tax Increment Finance Authority (DDA/TIF) may capture a portion of the County's millage revenue generated from properties located within the DDA/TIF district to the extent provided in its tax increment financing plan and any applicable statutory exemptions or opt-out provisions.
Township Ambulance Authority Proposal: Renewal of Ambulance Operating Millage
This proposal will permit the Authority Board to renew the levy of up to 2 mills for four (4) years for the purpose of providing funds for acquiring, construction, improvement, repair, and maintenance of ambulance buildings and facilities and for equipping, operating and maintaining ambulance services within the territorial limits of the Township Ambulance Authority.
Shall the limitation on the amount of taxes which may be imposed on taxable property within the territorial limits of the (Central Lake Township, Chestonia Township, Custer Township, Forest Home Township, Helena Township, Kearney Township, Mancelona Township, Star Township and Warner Township) Authority within the County of Antrim, State of Michigan, be increased by up to two dollars ($2.00) per thousand dollars ($1,000.00) (2 mills) of the taxable value to restore the millage to 2 mills due to the Headlee rollback on all taxable property within the territorial limits of the Township Ambulance Authority for four (4) years, being 2027 through 2030 inclusive, for the purpose of providing funds for acquiring, construction, improvement, repair and maintenance of ambulance buildings and facilities, and for equipping, operating, and maintaining an ambulance service within the territorial limits of the Township Ambulance Authority, and shall the Township Ambulance Authority be authorized to levy such millage for these purposes? If approved and levied in its entirety, it is estimated that the 2 mills would raise an estimated $2,548,581.64 within the territorial limits of the Township Ambulance Authority for the Township Ambulance Authority when first levied in 2027.
